Trilingual Master: French/English/Spanish
This course aims at training oral and written translation as well as documentation experts able to be competitive on the labor market.
Joint degree with the Máster Universitario en Comunicación Intercultural, Interpretación y Traducción en los Servicios Públicos degree (Alcala-Henares University, Spain).

Savoir-faire et compétences
These translation, terminology, and documentation experts can translate specialized texts from French to English (as well as Spanish) and the other way round.
They master computer assisted translation and are trained in terminology and documentation.
As top professionals, they can translate specialized content related to health, law and science (for instance). In order to do so, they are able to carry out linguistic investigations involving a trilingual lexicon so as to improve the quality and accuracy of their translations while contributing to the evolution of terminology.
Certified skills
Our graduates can:
- Express themselves orally and in writing in English and Spanish.
- Carry out a detailed analysis of a complex document so as to highlight its meaning, understand the allusions and connotations, and to highlight its relation to other historical or contemporary documents.
- Find the information needed for their investigations by using any available resources (print and digital) and evaluate its reliability.
- Cross-examine various sets of data in order to summarize them into a coherent whole.
- Translate from the studied languages to French (and vice versa) while taking into account the usual language rules as well as the characteristic of the text.
- Draw up reports aimed at assessing precisely the advance of scientific and technical research; gather a bibliography showing the progress made in the concerned field.
- Write trilingual terminological lexicons so as to provide up-to-date and high standard knowledge.
- Translate different kinds of documents from specialized fields in order to meet the needs of international private/public companies/bodies.
- Perform simultaneous or consecutive interpretation towards their native language.
- Use Computer Assisted Translation softwares.
- Manage documentation according to library norms.
- Make use of documentary databases.
- Set up a documentary monitoring.
- Summarize (in different languages) documents written in one of the studied foreign languages.
Informations supplémentaires
Dokéos enables teachers to upload documents and exercises for students. The E-learning environment gives students the opportunity to access resources uploaded by the language center of the UPPA.
Quality Commission
The committee includes teachers, professionals and students and meets at least once a year to improve teaching and learning experience.

In-depth theoretical courses: written translation (English/Spanish), interpretation (simultaneous, consecutive, liaison).
Computer Assisted Translation software training; lexicon managing (multilingual terminology).
Professional training:
- Introduction to company set-up and professional activity (administrative procedures, statutes, accounting, market research), filling out professional documents.
- Lectures and meetings with professionals from different fields of translation and documentation so as to discover the various aspects of translation: editorial, legal, literary, scientific, etc.
- Mandatory internship (at least 4 weeks in M1, at least 8 weeks in M2). Students are required to hand in an internship report and defend it at an oral session.

Condition d'accès
In accordance with the 23rd of December 2016 – 2016-1828 law, a Master’s degree programme includes 4 semesters, without any mid selection test, and leads to a national Master’s degree. This law requires a selection process (application form/test) before enrolling in the first year. The number of students is limited for each Master and each Master has specific registration requirements and a registration calendar.

Registration requirements:
Registration forms will be examined individually. They will consist of:
- A copy of the required degree (a translation and a transcript of grades in case of a foreign degree).
- A curriculum vitæ.
- A covering letter stating the reasons why the student is applying for this degree.
- Additional documents (if applicable)
Master 1:
Admission requirements:
- a degree in Applied Foreign Languages (L.E.A.)
- a trilingual (Spanish + English + French) Bac+3 equivalent degree. In case you do not meet this requirement, you may ask the registrar of the Faculty of Arts for a “Dossier de validation (Admission form) – décret 1985”.
Master 2 (Application form required):
- Students with a Bac+4 trilingual degree (Spanish + English + French).
- Foreign students can apply if they speak French and two foreign languages including English and Spanish and if they have an equivalent degree (post-graduate level).
